Doha International Airport (DOH)
Airport Information
(Doha, Qatar)
Sited to the south-east of Doha, nearby the Lulu Hypermarket and within easy reach of Ar Rayyan, the Doha International Airport (DOH) is a small airport that began life as a regional facility. However, a massive multi-million dollar facelift and the expansion of national carrier Qatar Air have put Doha Airport firmly on the international map.
Flights operate to around 80 different international destinations and cities, with Qatar Air handling a significant percentage of all flights. Annual passenger traffic at Doha Airport has more than doubled in the past three years and has now reached ten million.

Taxis are amongst the most popular way to reach specific destinations in central Doha and beyond, including the city's many sports stadiums and venues, such as the Sports City within the Al Waab neighbourhood and also the acclaimed Khalifa International Stadium in the Ad-Dawha area.
Doha International Airport (DOH) Information: History and Facilities
Recently in 2003, the airport and Qatar's government published a three-stage plan documenting many future improvements of this facility. At the estimated cost of $2 billion, construction began in 2004 and once completed in 2015, Doha International Airport (DOH) will be transformed into nothing short of a modern, leading state-of-the-art complex, together with twin parallel runways, almost 25 gates and be able to simultaneously handle six airbus jet planes. The overall annual capacity will be increased to around 12 million passengers.
Within the arrivals and departures terminals at Doha Airport, facilities are comprehensive and meet most needs, with cashpoints and currency exchange allowing passengers to easily obtain their Quatari Riyals. A single yet impressive duty-free outlet is available for shopping, while for dining and refreshments, a small food court can be found within the departures, including the Coffee Beanery Café, while a further café serves the arrivals area. Doha Airport is also home to male and female mosques, executive lounges for business class passengers, designated smoking rooms and a 24-hour post office with express mail services.
